| Vanguard is open for Recruitment!Who We Want:
- Players who can avoid circles of fire and puddles of poison.
- Players who are laid back in vent and all-around good company.
- Players who check their egos at the door: we will take a less-skilled, less-geared player over a walking ego who will be unpleasant for the next four hours of raiding, even if he or she raids well.
- Players who are NOT sexist, racist, homophobic, too immature to handle people from a different faith, or who otherwise rely on demeaning others to compensate for their obviously fragile masculinity or femininity.
- Players who will seek to min-max their toons and bring their very best.
- Players who may use obscenities (not slurs, mind you) from time to time, but at only the most choice moments and to great effect.
(Players who speak exclusively in four-letter words will quickly get on our nerves.) Our Goals:
- See it all, do it all.
- Raid with friends—we want a friendly guild full of people with whom we love to wipe repeatedly on difficult boss encounters until we win the loot.
- Be a light-hearted, enjoyable haven for players who grow weary of the endless trolling and epeen-stroking of the world at large.
- Do more, with less. We don't want to fill the ranks beyond capacity. We don't want to see half our members warming the bench during raids.
We want to build a strong and capable raid force without growing our numbers unnecessarily. Having said that, You don't have to be a raider to join Vanguard; there will be a distinction between our raiders and our social members. If you want to raid, you need to prove yourself to the team. - LOOT SYSTEM: We use a light suicide DKP system—it’s tried and true, and most of all, fair. It rewards diligence and attendance, and no one gets a free trinket for being best buddies with the leaders. Guildies, of course, can always choose not to spend their DKP and let their buddy buy the item instead. - RAID SCHEDULE: We like to get a lot done without taking the whole week to do it. In that sense, we keep a modest raid schedule. Right now, we’re looking at Wednesday and Thursday evenings. As our membership increases, we may adjust these days to better suit its needs. Unscheduled 5-mans and 10-mans may pop up at any given moment. (these smaller raids are not sanctioned for DKP)
- OFFICER SYSTEM: This guild is run by a small group of officers whom the leaders and other officers hand-pick to serve the guild community. Officers will have demonstrated (a) loyalty, (b) knowledge of the game and their class, (c) leadership skills, and (d) the desire to make the guild a better place for their guildies. Decisions reached by the officer group at large will carry—guild leads will acquiesce to consensus, unless the officer group is deadlocked, at which point, the leaders will provide the final decision.
- DISCIPLINE: We choose to administer discipline privately, unless forced to do otherwise. In our experience, most people want to improve and public humiliation is a hindrance. Whenever we can, we’ll administer any notes for improvement, constructive criticism, or discipline in a private vent or game channel.
